the flaws in human emotion

A funny thing (alright, it's not actually funny) happened to my friend a couple of weeks ago. His girlfriend of nearly a year cheated on him.. again. Me and my other friend have been consoling during this time and it breaks my heart knowing that the first time it was me that did it to him. Throughout the past few days it has led to my contemplation of the things we call 'emotions.'

–noun affective state of consciousness in which joy, sorrow, fear, hate, or the like, is experienced, as distinguished from cognitive and volitional states of consciousness.
2.any of the feelings of joy, sorrow, fear, hate, love, etc.
3.any strong agitation of the feelings actuated by experiencing love, hate, fear, etc., and usually accompanied by certain physiological changes, as increased heartbeat or respiration, and often overt manifestation, as crying or shaking. instance of this.
5.something that causes such a reaction: the powerful emotion of a great symphony. Unabridged

In my current state of thought, emotions are just things we make ourselves feel through our previous encounters with different people, objects, smells, tastes.. pretty much anything we encounter with one or more of our senses. It would seem then, that this is cause for confusion within a society, as each person feels differently about nearly everything we find throughout life. The main thing I want to ramble on about is the idea of love.

So in all honesty, what exactly is love? Many people call it an emotion, some call it something you do to a person, some just think it doesn't exist. Personally I don't think it's really one or the other of any, but rather a mixture of all. Real love is something you feel, like an emotion, something you commit to and try your best to accomplish for your partner.

I dunno.. now i lost interest in what i was writing.

If you find this, i pity you :(
